Coming together out of shared concern over technology use in our children’s schools.
Who we are
Tech Intentional Minneapolis started as a group of parents, educators, and neighbors hoping to make technology use more intentional in our schools. We soon found ourselves collaborating with many like-minded groups wanting the same thing across Minnesota — MN Unplugged, The Balance Project, Screen Smart Tonka, Park Unplugged and Tech Intentional St. Paul.
Today, we’re a growing network of Minneapolis families and educators. Together we’re working to make sure technology decisions in our schools are made with evidence, intention, and care.
What we believe
When a digital tool is the best way to teach a concept, we support its use. When it isn't, the default should be analog. Policies should exist on evolving technology like AI.
Curriculum and technology choices should be grounded in research about how children learn best.
A growing body of evidence suggests heavy EdTech use is widening — not closing — achievement gaps. A real commitment to equity means continuing to reassess what's actually working.
Decisions about classroom technology should be made in students' interests — not driven by vendor marketing or industry trends.
